Description:Background:
The School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary's College, accredited by the AACSB, seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant level for the Business Analytics & Data Science department, starting in the Academic Year 2025-26. Built on Catholic values and 150 years of Lasallian tradition in education, Saint Mary's College emphasizes social justice and global perspectives in its scholarly research, curricular and co-curricular programming. We are particularly interested in faculty candidates whose research and teaching interests will contribute to the department's intellectual activities.
Responsibilities:
  • Candidates will be expected to primarily teach courses that include Advanced Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, and the Business Analytics Capstone. However, candidates who can also teach courses in Data Visualization and Storytelling, Cybersecurity, or Databases will be given additional preference. Candidates are also expected to be proficient in multiple software packages (e.g., Python, Tableau, Power BI, R, SQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate active research and cutting-edge methods in AI and its applications.
  • Duties will include:
    • Teaching and research at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
    • Advising students and serving on committees, as they contribute to the mission of the College;
    • Participation in College governance and service
    • Participation in departmental support and service
    • Development of an innovative undergraduate curriculum aligned with the College's three traditions.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is reflected in the Faculty Salary Scale, available here. In addition to base pay, salary supplementals are offered for these disciplines as determined by current Faculty Salary policies in consultation with the Dean and Provost. The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000.
Qualifications:
  • Earned PhD in a field related to artificial intelligence, operations management, supply chain management, business analytics, computer science, engineering, statistics, or a closely related field is required before commencing his or her academic appointment.
  • Earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited school or equivalent institution.
  • A strong record of publication or the promise of future research activity.
  • Demonstrated track record or potential for teaching excellence, scholarly research, and publication in the field.
  • Experience teaching, advising and mentoring a culturally and educationally diverse student body.
  • A commitment to excellence and growth in teaching
  • Demonstrated record of teaching or teaching potential, such as past teaching experience or experience as a graduate teaching assistant.
  • Desire to contribute to increasing diversity in the computing and data professions and supporting students from diverse backgrounds to be successful.
  • Our outstanding faculty and staff value shared inquiry, integrative learning, and student interaction both in and outside the classroom.
