The Position:
The Natural Science and Engineering department at Point Park University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position to begin in August 2025. The department seeks an individual who is passionate about teaching and who can work effectively with colleagues in a collegial environment to promote student learning. The department seeks a candidate who is committed to student-centered teaching with a willingness to teach a variety of courses in the department, ranging from introductory to upper-level courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
The candidate selected for this position will possess the demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively in oral, written, and digital forms. They will possess the interpersonal skills to engage students from a variety of social and educational backgrounds in classroom and laboratory settings. Point Park University prides itself on maintaining smaller class sizes and close instructor-student contact throughout the curriculum, and all faculty are expected to support these values.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in zoology, anatomy, physiology or other organismal biology-related area. Preference will be given to those who can potentially expand our Forensic Science program into areas that may include toxicology, histology or forensic chemistry. Principle responsibilities include teaching, course and program development, advising and mentoring, and service to the department, school and university. Candidates should expect to work closely with undergraduate students and colleagues and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group, both orally and in writing.
