The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Cardiology, at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is actively seeking candidates for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, as a pediatric interventional cardiology to join the faculty of the MCG Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Training Program. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Patient Care/Service:
  • Become or maintain board certification in Pediatric Cardiology, by year three (3).
  • Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in pediatric cardiology in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in assigned clinical duties with other faculty in your Division. This will include, but is not limited to inpatient consultations, outpatient ambulatory practice, satellite clinics, and on-call duties.
  • Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). This includes but is not limited to: attendance at quality meetings (e.g., M&M, Quality Unit Council, etc.), proper management of documentation, completion of all online compliance training modules, attendance at faculty meetings, etc.
  • Meet and maintain wRVU productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided. Current target equates to 65th percentile for pediatric cardiology as established by the Vizient AAMC Clinical Practice Solutions Center (CPSC), multiplied by clinical FTE. wRVU productivity targets are subject to change.
  • Promote good professional relationships and build referral patterns with Augusta University physicians and physicians outside of Augusta University (referring physicians in community, region and state).
  • Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians.

Teaching/Instruction:
  • Provide education and training to fellows, residents, medical students and healthcare professionals in pediatric cardiology which includes but is not limited to: clinical supervision, consultation and didactics.
  • Support existing Pediatric Cardiology fellowship program.
  • Attend 50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications
MD/DO or equivalent. Candidates shall have completed an ACGME-approved residency program in pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology as well as a 4th year of pediatric interventional cardiology fellowship. Candidates should be board-certified in pediatrics and board-certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. Must have or be able to obtain a state of Georgia medical license, federal DEA and BLS certified.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology consists of a strong team providing comprehensive care for patients of all ages with a wide range of pediatric cardiac diseases. Duties of this position would also include but is not limited to participation in outpatient pediatric cardiology which includes satellite clinic locations and rotating on the inpatient consultation service. Teaching fellows, residents, and medical students is an integral part of our academic practice. Prior experience in teaching is highly desirable, but not required. The Division expects faculty members to take advantage of opportunities to pursue scholarly and research interests.
Clinical operations for the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University are managed at The Children's Hospital of Georgia, which is part of Wellstar/MCG healthcare, a 478-bed state of the art medical center, a Critical Care Center housing a 13-county regional trauma center and a 154-bed children's hospital. It also includes a Medical Office Building with more than 80 outpatient practice sites in one convenient setting. The Children's Hospital of Georgia (CHOG) houses the region's only Level IV NICU including neonatal ECMO and cardiac surgical programs, and a comprehensive group of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists.
