Job Description Summary:

Guides students in processes related to enrollment and registration for Adult Education classes and Traditional Credit Classes. Attend and support Adult Education enrollment and registration events. Available to work evenings and weekends.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Attends Adult Education student centric events for recruitment and to inform students about how advisors in Adult Education can support them in achieving their academic goals.

  • Guides students in processes related to enrollment and registration for Adult Education classes and Traditional Credit classes.

  • Serves as communication liaison.

  • Works collaboratively with internal departments of the college.

  • Support students who are exiting Adult Education programs to explore options within the college.

  • Presents to GED in Spanish and other Adult Education classes about options within the college.

  • Knowledge related to the purpose and/or content of the program and/or project.

  • Knowledge of planning and coordinating related projects and/or programs.

Skills

  • Maintaining an established work schedule, including evenings and weekends.

  • Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.

  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Working collaboratively.

  • Knowledge of Adult Education ESL and GED.

  • Knowledge of ACC’s ESOL classes and enrollment process.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

  • Prioritizing, implementing, and managing multiple projects and due dates.

  • Effectively working with diverse and multicultural persons.

  • Computer, web and database maintenance skills.

Technology Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications.

Required Work Experience

  • Two years related work experience.

Preferred Work Experience

  • None

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree.

Special Requirements

  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel in the Austin area as required.

Other Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

  • Reviewing and preparing narrative and statistical reports and records.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in an office environment.

  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
