Job Summary
The IT Systems Architect 2 serves under the supervision of the Director of Web and Digital Services to perform architecture and programming support on multiple projects. Works closely with Web Services team members and business partners during all phases of projects to analyze requirements in the context of related infrastructure applications and systems. Works with customers, external and internal to IT, to support existing and new PHP applications, databases, and the infrastructure on which they reside.
This staff member will carry out their duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acting in the best interest of the organization, and fully supporting the mission, vision, and values of Augusta University and all entities represented.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
PROGRAMMING SUPPORT: Works with customers to provide programming support for PHP applications supporting augusta.edu and other websites, including rearchitecting existing applications to meet current design standards, testing and addressing cybersecurity issues, and debugging.
TECHNOLOGY SME: Investigate emerging technologies and act as a subject matter expert to determine technology and infrastructure standards cross-functionally; Participate in special projects or perform other duties as requested.
MANAGE SERVER ARCHITECTURE FOR WEBSITE TECHNOLOGIES: Manage and administer the server architecture for existing website technologies for augusta.edu and related properties, including managing software versions, ensuring reliability and uptime, and defining clear upgrade paths for critical web server architecture.
DEFINE AND DOCUMENT TARGET ARCHITECTURE MODELS: Define and document target architecture models, processes, and policies related to core infrastructure; Anticipate growth and ensure scalability of the infrastructure to include servers, storage, network, and infrastructure applications.
LEAD ARCHITECTURE REVIEWS AND AUDITS: Lead architecture reviews and audits, including technical security, disaster recovery, and business continuity programs; Serve as a subject matter expert for the design of technical infrastructure to integrate solutions into existing technology standards.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field and a minimum of three years of experience
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field and a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in PHP, and/or Java Script
Experience managing a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/ databases.
Experience supervising and directing staff and project implementations.
Knowledge and experience with learning management systems and other instructional technologies.
Knowledge of all facets of networking, including LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure & file server inter-operations.
IT Client Support knowledge, including desktop support, infrastructure, servers, network, video conferencing, PC Support, and related.
Extensive knowledge of the activities, processes, resources, and technologies involved in technology management, and leadership.
Knowledge of local area networks, wide area networks, wireless networks & communication protocols, video over TCP/IP & voice over TCP/IP.
Knowledge of current technologies, project development cycle, and project management tools; documentation needs & techniques; structured systems methodologies; & data mapping techniques.
Experience in academic technology, including providing instructional support, and related services in multiple modalities.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (work outside of regular business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B16
Salary: $95,200/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
