Tennessee State University Department of Agricultural Science and Engineering invites applications for the position of Project Coordinator.
This position plans, implements and reports Extension educational programs for transitional, organic crop growers. Other responsibilities include:
-Develops and implements innovative educational programs
-Assesses regional needs, issues and trends in horticulture area and prepares situational data as a basis for program development.
-Researches and disseminates information to keep crop producers abreast of the transitional to organic agriculture program (TOPP), CSAF and other latest research information through various forms of communication.
-Plans, implements, evaluates, and reports all phases of the organic production educational programs.
-Works with extension agents and program leader on outreach and training workshops in the industry.
-Develops annual reports program director, field staff, specialist, advisory councils, clientele groups and others. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s in horticulture, agriculture, plant science or directly related field with at least one year of experience in organic agriculture production or related area. Master’s degree preferred. Effectively uses the media and electronic technology in educational program delivery and in disseminating educational information to the public. Demonstrates effective problem solving skills. Builds strong linkages and teamwork with field staff, specialist, and colleagues. Experience with Windows-based software. Knowledge of vegetables production machinery and possess valid state driver’s license.
