The Media Production Program seeks to hire a per-course faculty member to teach MP 200, Media Ethics & Ecologies, in the Spring of 2025.
Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:30pm-2:45pm
This course will be taught in person, on campus.
This course facilitates the study of “media environments”, as media ecology is often described, from a perspective of ethical concern. The course explores how these environments - from social media to the isolated bubbles of AirPods - shape our lived existence and personal identity, as well as reinforce inequity and prejudice. The course asks students to ask critical questions about our ethical involvement - and moral responsibilities - when making and consuming media.
Qualifications:
1) A PhD or EdD is required for applications to be considered.
2) Demonstrated success in teaching ethical practice and analysis of media at the college level, ideally across a diversity of media formats and platforms
· Candidates should also be comfortable in a student-centered teaching environment with an interactive learning style.
· Work in a highly collaborative and cultural diverse classroom environment.
· Strong commitment to undergraduate, liberal arts education.
Candidates must reside in California.
Salary: $7,447-$10,308. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
