Summary
The Department of Finance invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with a start date of August 2025 with a primary interest in investments and financial management and a secondary interest in risk management or financial planning. The position is a 9-month appointment with summer teaching available.
The Department of Finance offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Specialization and a Minor in Finance or in Insurance & Risk Management with a total undergraduate enrollment of more than 300. Within the Finance specialization, the Department also offers the Financial Planning Concentration which has been registered with the U.S. CFP® Board of Standards since 1998 and the Financial Analyst Concentration recognized as the CFA Institute’s University Affiliated Program (UAP). Essential Functions
Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, active engagement in research and publication, and involvement in department, college, university, and professional service. Primary teaching duties will be undergraduate and graduate level courses in investments and financial management. An active research agenda that can lead to scholarly publications in high quality journals is required. Service duties may also include engaging with alumni, industry professionals, recruiters, and promotion of programs.
This position is also expected to lead the Financial Analyst Concentration program, which aims to prepare business students to become successful financial management/investment professionals with CFA professional designation.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD. or D.B.A. in Finance or a closely related field from AACSB accredited university
ABD’s will be considered if completion of the degree is anticipated by summer 2025.
Preferred Qualifications
CFA professional certification in the Finance area
Experience using Bloomberg database
