Position Description:

The primary function of the Director of Employee Relations in the Department of Human Resources is to ensure compliance within university departments and equal employment opportunities for its employees under the applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as the Staff Personnel Policies and Procedures and the University Redbook.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as University Deputy Title IX Coordinator

  • Supervises employee relations team. Supervises and assists in the development and implementation of employee relations policies and programs. Advises University employees, supervisors, and managers regarding policy interpretation and ensures proper and consistent application of policies. Provides advice, counsel, and guidance to University employees, supervisors, and managers regarding employee relations issues.

  • Serves as lead Title VII investigator and assist in Title IX investigations. Trains investigators and ensures overall compliance of investigative process. Investigates complaints such as harassment, Title VII, Title IX, EEO and HR Compliance Line, which include interviewing witnesses, analyzing evidence, making determinations, negotiating alternative resolutions and collaborating with appropriate departments/agencies. In conjunction with applicable department heads/agencies, formulates appropriate course of action to take. Determines appropriate information necessary to respond to external complaints. Writes case analysis of complaints.

  • Designs and manages programs, policies, and practices to ensure University is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements such as OFCCP and EEOC. Tracks laws and regulations which may affect the University's policies and develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues. Manages projects and analysis in updating the components of the University's affirmative action plan.

  • Manage, develop and implement performance management programs that align employee and the departmental efforts with institutional goals and priorities.

  • Oversees and participates in employee relations processes which includes, but is not limited to grievance process, appeal hearings, pre-termination hearings, ADA accommodations, leave administration, unemployment hearings.

  • Oversees and submits required regulatory reports such as the affirmation action plan, VETS4212, and Human Relations Commission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Related Field

  • SHRM Certification

Target Compensation Maximum:

$124,200.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$82,800.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
