Position Description:

The Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work & Family Science at the University of Louisville (UofL) invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, that will begin August 1, 2025. We are seeking candidates with expertise in substance use and substance use disorders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in social work, family science, or a related field by the start date

  • Evidence of successful scholarship development

  • Expertise in substance use and substance use disorders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work

  • At least 2 years post-MSW experience in practice with underrepresented, underserved, or minoritized populations

  • Knowledge of and experience in social work or family science research

  • Knowledge of the funding process and/or success with funded research

  • Teaching experience including online courses

  • Experience with diverse populations

  • Additional substantive expertise in intersectionality of substance use and family dynamics

Compensation:

Salary is competitive, with excellent fringe benefits, and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer teaching compensation is possible for 10-month appointments.

The School:

The Kent School offers one undergraduate degree and four graduate degree programs and seeks to prepare well-qualified social workers and couple and family therapists who practice from a strong professional value base to serve the metropolitan mission of the university. The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degrees are offered both 100% online and on campus. The Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work (PhD) and the Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy (MSCFT) are offered on campus and the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree is offered online.
