Job ID: 234064Position #: 20012738 The Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University - Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology is seeking applicants to fill a twelve-month tenure-track faculty position. Our university has a new initiative to recruit up to 20 new faculty members in the scientific fields of inflammaging and brain aging to perform research to improve outcomes for those suffering from Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other neurodegenerative diseases. Investigators with outstanding research accomplishments in these areas as well as collaborative interests that complement the other existing strengths in our department in neurological and psychiatric disorders (Parkinson's Disease, drug abuse, schizophrenia) or cardiovascular disease (heart failure, ischemia/reperfusion injury, systemic and pulmonary hypertension, diabetes) or will be given preference. Applicants with relevant expertise in drug discovery and development, systems biology, and/or cell signaling are particularly encouraged to apply. We offer a generous start-up package, excellent laboratory space, and outstanding core facilities for cell imaging, genomics and proteomics, small animal imaging and behavior, zebrafish, histology and electron microscopy. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching programs for professional and graduate students as well as all other academic and scholarly functions within the department and university. The faculty member will be expected to establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. and/or M.D. from an accredited college or university and must be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level.
