The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) role is an integral component to the success of the Residence Life program for the Housing and Residence Life Department at Augusta University. The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for creating a community where learning and community involvement are honored. He/she facilitates a community that contributes to the intellectual, social, and cultural development of students and staff. Additionally, the RLC provides leadership for the daily operations management of the facility in order to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all. The RLC role is one of leadership, trust, and honor, and contributes significantly to the personal growth and development of his/her staff members and residents.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT EDUCATOR: Communicates students' rights and responsibilities and assists students in developing skills to address interpersonal conflicts. Serves as student conduct hearing officer. Coordinates community service or community engagement activities in his/her hail or complex. Fosters an environment in the hall or complex that encourages the acceptance of all student populations and fosters dialogue between and among others. Mentor student staff and residents living in the community. Assists in coordinating Living Learning Communities specific to his/her building as assigned. Works collaboratively with faculty and academic partners through academic initiatives in the hall.
SUPERVISION/MANAGERIAL: Supervises a hall or complex staff of Resident Assistants and front desk operations. Participants in staff recruitment and selection processes as assigned. Provides leadership to staff by communicating, interpreting, and administrating residence hall and University policies and procedures. Maintains visibility in the hall through office hours, regular floor visits, and attendance at staff and student programs. Maintains a working knowledge of and collaborates with campus departments and community agencies. Completes evaluations with staff to provide effective feedback on performance. Participates in the formal and informal evaluation process. Follows the progressive discipline procedure with staff when there is a need for corrective action needed. Provides ongoing training and development for assigned staff.
ADMINISTRATIVE: Manages hall programming, supplies, and training budget arks with facilities staff to ensure building maintenance and capital improvement requests are submitted. Coordinates communication and timely transfer of information between hall and housing and Residence Life main office. Participates in all safety training and collaborates with Housing and Residence Life and other campus offices as needed to maintain a high level of building safety. Approves OneUSG for assigned student staff, performs administrative duties including: budget/spreadsheet management, maintaining records, overseeing check-ins, check-outs, and move: working with facilities, processing work orders and maintaining building/facility specific forms. Attends meetings as determined by supervisor and other departmental and divisional meetings as requested. Prepares and submits annual and other reports as assigned. Ensures Resident Assistant and desk staff have completed all appropriate human resources and payroll paperwork before starting their job duties, and completes appropriate termination paperwork when necessary.
PROFESSIONALISM: Provides leadership, mentoring, and role modeling for student staff and halts residents. Seeks knowledge and information to develop oneself professionally. Adheres to standard housing and student affairs professional standards. Represents Housing and Residence Life at seminars and conferences. Presents workshops and seminars to staff and students. Performs other related duties as assigned. Maintains an awareness of student and staff concerns through formal contacts (i.e., office hours, appointments) and informal interactions. Adheres to Residence Life policies and procedures.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 2 years of applicable related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or directly related field of study; experience with community living and leadership development.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/ databases.
Knowledge of how to plan and organize events for students.
Excellent knowledge and skills in supervisory practices and techniques
Knowledge of student conduct, crisis response, and behavioral intervention.
Familiarity with student conduct management systems
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and customer service skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and provide organizational leadership and vision.
Ability to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions.
Ability to foster collaborative and collegial relationships with fellow Housing and Residence Life staff members and constituents.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B8
Salary Minimum: $45,400/ annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
