The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center is the single largest investment in a cybersecurity facility in the nation to date. The $100 million facility will help to fill the current and growing shortage of cybersecurity talent in the state and nation. The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center represents a unique public/private partnership that includes Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, the University System of Georgia's research institutions, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and other state, federal, and private-sector partners working together to meet this workforce demand and to innovate, train, and strengthen defenses.
The state-of-the-art Center is located in the growing cybersecurity corridor in Augusta, Georgia, that is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command and Cyber School of Excellence at Fort Gordon. The Center is located on the downtown campus of Augusta University and houses the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.
Job Summary
The GCITC Training Director is responsible for leading the cyber training mission at the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center. The Director will collaborate with the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center team and develop partnerships with other key stakeholders to create comprehensive training and workforce development plans and packages that help ensure the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center fulfills the vision of being the hub for the region's cyber workforce development efforts. The Director will collaborate with partners and customers to understand their training requirements and will develop and deliver the appropriate training courses that meet their requirements. When required, the Director will function as a catalyst for the development of new content by appropriate subject matter experts. The Director will work with the Cyber Range and Outreach & Marketing teams to ensure course offerings are properly supported and advertised. The Director will coordinate the delivery of defined training programs through the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center staff for both face-to-face and remote delivery modes. The Director will also develop schedules, coordinate course delivery, and will review client feedback and assessments to help improve future program delivery.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
MISSION AND STRATEGY:Develop and implement the GCITC Training strategy and business plan. Work with the Center's Executive Director and other key stakeholders to define/update the GCITC Training mission, strategic goals, and implementation plans that align with supported organizations' requirements and support the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center training and workforce development lines of effort.
GENERAL GOVERNANCE: Lead a team of cybersecurity and administrative experts that provide professional cybersecurity training to a multitude of partners and customers, including government, academic, and private sector clients. Responsible for the development of and adherence to the principles and best practices of education and training. Develop and deliver appropriate training courses that meet customer requirements. Serve as subject matter experts to the community. Maintain a hospitable work environment and culture that encourages participation, collaboration, collegiality, and innovation. Empower subordinates by providing the proper resources, guidance, mentorship, responsibility, and accountability.
PROGRAM DELIVERY AND MANAGEMENT: Identify and manage appropriate customer and partner relationships. Work with Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center's staff, and other stakeholders to ensure GCITC Training capabilities meet customer requirements and expectations. In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Outreach and the Augusta University Director of Corporate Relations, identify and foster both client and partner relationships necessary for GCITC Training success.
OPERATIONAL & QUALITY OVERSIGHT: Oversee and implement appropriate resources to ensure successful GCITC Training operations in conjunction with Georgia Cyber Center Business Operations. Develop and execute an annual GCITC Training budget. Work with appropriate Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training staff to develop and execute business plans that help maintain and expand relevant training and related workforce development programs. Oversee the procurement and management of applicable training resources, to include learning management system, software license, etc.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a field of study relevant to information and cybersecurity with 6 or more years of relevant experience
OR
Master's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a field of study relevant to information and cybersecurity, with 4 years of relevant experience
Other Required Qualifications
One or more relevant professional certifications from leading technology authorities (Cisco, CompTIA, AWS, Microsoft, etc.)
Required Experience
Experience with the NIST cybersecurity framework
5 or more years of managerial or academic administration experience
1 or more years of experience teaching in a related content area
Experience in leading process improvement initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
Certified cybersecurity trainer
Preferred Experience
Industry experience in cybersecurity, information security, or risk management
Experience in creating cyber training, and competitions (including offense & defense competition, detection & defense, response & recovery, product development & testing, evaluation & benchmarking)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity industry and practice
Knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogical approaches in education/training

SKILLS
Strong organizational skills including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation
Strong oral and written communication skills

ABILITIES
Demonstrated ability to oversee, collaborate with, and motivate peers, staff, and community partners
Demonstrated fluency in NIST/NICE framework
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B18
Salary: Minimum $125,900/annual
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
