Job Summary

This is a skilled position responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair services related to doors, door hardware, windows and locking systems in all our campus buildings. Position also requires cutting keys, processing all key requests, and delivering keys to Key Control office to be issued to employees, as well as maintaining the current key numbering system and inventory. Assist other shops when needed.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide routine maintenance and repairs to doors, door hardware and windows: such as: repairing and /or building locksets, re-keying cylinders, maintaining hinges and door closers, adjusting door tolerances, servicing automatic doors and their controls, replacing broken windows, reprogramming electric lock entry codes, etc.
Complete key requests and make accurate and current entries into the key/lock cylinder computer database.
Construct and/or install new door and window components, such as: installing new doors and frames, mounting magnetic locks and "hold opens", retrofitting door keeps with electric strikes, installing door sweeps and weather stripping, fabricating keys, replacing window units, etc. in accordance with blueprints and/or oral instruction.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections of campus buildings noting and/or repairing found deficiencies.
Perform incidental duties such as erecting and moving scaffolding and ladders, operation of man-lifts, and the operation of motor vehicles.
Performs some administrative duties such as completing information necessary to close out work orders and departmental requests.
Maintenance and installation of building, and room signage. Assist with events and hang and remove banners.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization and two years experience as a locksmith or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Five or more years of experience in the field; Advanced technical training with the maintenance and construction field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of the locksmith trade and building construction, skill using personal computers and tools, and the ability to interact and communicate well with others.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F
Pay Band: 3
Salary: Minimum $16.54/hour - $18.58/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
Recruitment Period: 7/1/24 - Until Filled.

Conditions of Employment
