College/Department Information
Within the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia, our top priority is the provision of thorough and compassionate patient care. Within our department, you will find doctors who are interested in matching your concerns with accurate diagnoses and treatments. We seek not only to provide the right treatment, but also to educate you in regard to your condition so that you too may be involved in its management. Our educational mission is broadly focused. Upon completion of the 3-year course of instruction, our residents are able to enter comprehensive ophthalmic practice or pursue fellowship training. Through continuing medical education activities, the local ophthalmic community as well as our team of eye care providers are given opportunity to discuss and implement recent advances in the medical and surgical care of the eye.
Job Summary
Performs laboratory work related to establishing novel treatment strategies for glaucoma, understanding molecular mechanisms that underlie neurodegeneration.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide Oversight And Review Of Research: Provides planning, management, coordination, oversight and review of proposed and ongoing research projects in an assigned laboratory.
Provide Administrative And Technical Guidance: Makes administrative and technical arrangements for major research experiments or projects including the recruitment of study subjects; maintains records of the different phases of these projects.
Maintain Supplies And Materials: Mouse Colony: Maintain animal colonies and inventory.
Manage Laboratory Personnel: Supervises all non-technical and technical research support staff related to the research project. Trains staff in mandated techniques for research projects.
Lab Management: Lab managerial duties. Maintain IACUC, IRB protocols.
Other: Perform other related duties assigned my P.I.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one year directly applicable experience; previous supervisory experience.
OR
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience and previous supervisory experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of eight years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience and previous supervisory experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B12
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
