College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
This position works collaboratively with campus leadership and admin staff to continually provide clerkship and enrichment year students optimal support and experiences. They will participate in academic performance hearings; provide guidance to students on various study skills and strategies for learning; provide faculty development in teaching and evaluation strategies and current technologies appropriate to the department. They will also provide curricular support to all students on the Savannah Campus by maintaining a reliable schedule of office hours for student advising and consultation. They will display behavior consistent with professional ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum Responsibilities
  • Assist with academic office events such as Match Day, Hooding Ceremony, White Coat, etc.
  • Assist the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Head of Dept. with any projects as needed.
  • Provide correspondence for pre-clerkship students
  • Organize orientation activities for students
  • Assist faculty with travel expense forms
  • Acts as a student liaison between the students, Academic Affairs, and Curriculum. Serves as point of contact for service learning
  • Assist in the student admissions and onboarding process.
  • Serve as point of contact for Module Directors and provide in-person support for classroom and online learning sessions
  • Assist in the student promotions and professionalism process.
  • Provide support for in-person and online assessments
  • Help develop and maintain online teaching platforms and communications with students
  • Coordinate and facilitate campus meetings, including professional development sessions and meetings with community partners
  • Assure students are credentialed for clinical rotations at host hospitals and practice sites. Schedule EMR training and conduct hospital orientations as needed for individual hospital systems. Serves as the liaison between the Dean's staff of the SE campus and the host hospital and practice sites.
  • Assists with student preceptor assignments and helps to assure students meet the academic requirements for year level. The coordinator makes verbal and written reports to the curriculum office on student progress in compliance with MCG's clinical requirements.
  • Makes personal visits (when possible) to MCG medical students completing their rotations in community-based settings to assure satisfactory experiences. Coordinates regularly scheduled meetings between students, clinical faculty, and the dean's staff.
  • Serve as chief proctor for NBME exams on the SE campus and assures computer compliance, enrollment and assignment to the appropriate site for examinations. Helps to maintain computer and internet access for staff and students on the campus.
  • Assists the Dean's staff in the identification, recruitment and credentialing of clinical faculty as necessary for the campus. Help clinical faculty with their access to MCG's computer programs (ONE45/D2L). Assists in preparation of presentations to educate and recruit students to the clinical campus and to MCG.
  • Liaise with other clinical campuses, their coordinators and leadership to assure comparable clinical and academic experiences. Coordinates housing assignments with host hospital systems and Magnolia Coastlands AHEC for students and enters clinical rotation hours into the Preceptor Tax Incentive Program (PTIP) database for volunteer faculty.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 2 years of educational program experience or similar experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and 7 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 4 years of educational program experience or similar experience; OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accredited organization and 10 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 6 years of educational program experience or similar experience.

Salary: Minimum $21.83/hourly - $21.87/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
