College/Department Information
Within the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia, our top priority is the provision of thorough and compassionate patient care. Within our department you will find doctors who are interested in matching your concerns with accurate diagnoses and treatments. We seek not only to provide the right treatment, but also to educate you in regard to your condition so that you too may be involved in its management. Our educational mission is broadly focused. Upon completion of the 3-year course of instruction our residents are able to enter comprehensive ophthalmic practice or pursue fellowship training. Through continuing medical education activities, the local ophthalmic community as well as our team of eye care providers are given opportunity to discuss and implement recent advances in the medical and surgical care of the eye.'
Job Summary
Manage the department's student intern rotations including coordinating rotations, posting grades, and completing other duties required as part of the program. Provide administrative support for assigned faculty (no more than five and no less than two) which will include various duties including but not limited to coordinating travel, maintaining calendars, etc. Assist with coordination of programs sponsored by the department's Vision Discovery Institute. Serve as receptionist for the department's administrative suite. Complete other duties as needed and assigned.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Serve as assistant to clinical and research faculty which will include but is not limited to providing administrative support for assigned faculty (no more than five and no less than two).
Work with chair's assistant and receive training to serve as assistant to department chair.
Manage the department's student intern rotations including coordinating rotations posting grades, and completing other duties required as part of the program.
Coordinate travel
Maintain calendars
Assist with coordination of programs sponsored by the department's Vision Discovery Institute.
Serve as receptionist for the department's administrative suite.
Complete other related duties as a assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible office support experience.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may be substituted for experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Band: B3
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
