Job Summary
The Coordinator, Center for Undergraduate Research Scholar (CURS) Program will assist with the day-to-day operations of the CURS Program, which includes recruiting, advising, and mentoring students in research and scholarship. The Coordinator will manage the office in the absence of the Director. The Coordinator will also provide additional oversight of student courses and programming that encourage student engagement in research as well as relevant opportunities for faculty mentor development. The broad scope of the position is one that will oversee and expand inquiry-based activities that prepare highly qualified students who are competitive for graduate and professional school programs and the workforce along with the Director.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
ADVISING: Serve as an advisor to students, monitor academic performance, provides counseling/advisement on academic research and scholarship
RECORDS MAINTENANCE: Maintain detailed documentation of program files and records.
RECRUITMENT: Participate in recruitment activities on and off-campus including advertisement materials, preparing recruiting packets, creating recruitment information materials, and working with campus organizations to publicize events.
NETWORKING: Develop strategies to build support for students to attend NCUR or other appropriate venues to network and share scholarly products.
PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES: Facilitate opportunities for CURS Program students to participate in scholarly activities, conferences, seminars, and workshops such as Brown Bag sessions.
ASSISTANCE: Assist in reviewing applications for AU Internal CURS Mini-Grant and Summer scholarship opportunities.
Provide extended supervision for all CURS Summer Scholars Program (SSP) activities, including directing, budgeting, and administering the program's objectives; recruiting faculty and students; curriculum and programming; program evaluation interpretation and assessment; coordination of SSP symposium.
DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Builds opportunities for the development of faculty mentors and opportunities for faculty-student matches.
SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS: Supervise student assistants.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years of experience in advisement and/or mentorship of undergraduate student research, scholarly activity and/or creative endeavors in a higher education setting. Must have demonstrated successful communication with a variety of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in programming to enhance student leadership and professional development. Successful experience with grant writing and management.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/ databases.
SKILLS
Strong counseling skills and knowledge in the areas of career, social, and academic concerns.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational prioritization, presentation, and customer service skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (effective interaction with parents, students, faculty, and staff).
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday
Pay Band: B6
Salary: $18.85/hr - $22.31/hr
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
