College/Department Information
The Transdisciplinary Research Initiative in Inflammaging and Brain Aging (TRIBA) brings together interdisciplinary faculty positions across AU colleges, to build upon existing AU strengths in Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Precision Medicine, Personalized Nutraceuticals and Neuroscience to identify potential causes and adverse outcomes of age-related inflammation. Together, the collaborations from this initiative will engage in the aging research, development of several grant applications, mentor graduate students/junior faculty, publish high impact journals, and facilitate on-campus and off-campus collaborations.

The Grant Program Manager provides support for the Transdisciplinary Research Institute for Inflaming and Brain Aging faculty, facilitating the Pre and Post Award activities for grants. This position will serve as the primary contact for faculty across multiple disciplines and will coordinate collaboration and grant submissions, publications, and all research related needs.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as a resource to staff and faculty in preparation, development, review, and submission of grant and contract proposal and applications. Coordinate the grant process from development, review, and submission through the post-award stage communicating with all central offices (SPA, IACUC, LAS, IRB). Assist with IRB and IBC submission as needed. Assist with preparation of grant routing forms, budget amendments, authorizations to budget, cost transfers, over the cap cost share, carry forward requests, research performance progress reports, and no cost extension forms and grant routing forms, BCM errors. Coordinate and manage application process for large institutional grant applications by working with all stakeholders to prepare biographical sketches, budget, budget justification, resources and environments, specific aims, background/ significance, preliminary data, research proposals, human subjects, estimated recruitment, letters of recommendation, and references, and create tracking system to ensure all deliverables have been completed and deadline has been met.
- Provide assistance to faculty in interpreting award terms and conditions and maintaining best financial practices to assure compliance with sponsor requirements, university policies and procedures, and relevant laws and regulations. Reviews and interprets funding agency guidelines and regulations and advises faculty as to policies and procedures of those agencies as well as those of the state and University. Monitor proposal status and advise faculty on requirements and deadlines associated with research protection protocols.
- Interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance to develop and prepare financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, and trending. Devises financial reporting tools and reports. Review and maintain documentation related to cost transfers, requests for expenditures, effort reporting, budget revisions, and fund statements. Coordinates invoicing, accounts receivable and deposits in the financial system to ensure payments are applied correctly. Serve as primary contact with post award on grant-related matters and with the Research Institute for incentive-related matter. Assist with Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPR), applying for no cost extension, and any closeout related items.
- Assist Colleges/Schools and their departments in TRIBA Cluster Hire faculty recruitment. Work with Home Department managers to ensure ePars are accurate. Oversee and manage startup funds by ordering supplies, entering requisitions, preparing research staff HR paperwork, and request quotes for equipment as needed. Prepare, edit, review, and submit research journals, journal reviews, abstracts, and other publishing related articles to publication source as requested. Track metrics for TRIBA including but not limited to: Submissions to and Awards from Federal Sponsors, Publications and Commercial licenses and disclosures. Coordinate meetings for TRIBA Faculty and Steering Committee as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university combined with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare management and budget management capacity AND Experience in grant writing and securing funding; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university combined with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare management and budget management capacity AND Experience in grant writing and securing funding.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience submitting NIH grant applications.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently. Flexibility to work odd hours as required by SVP projects. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong research presentation, annual report, and documentation preparation. Team player with the ability to handle a high-volume throughput in a timely manner. Detail-oriented with strong multitasking, customer service, judgment, imaginative and innovative problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, PubMed, Esproute, eRACommons, DocuSign, web meetings, and other computer software/databases. Knowledge of Research publications, review process, manuscript preparation/submission, grant preparation, and submission processes for federal government and managing budgets (grant and departmental).
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday *Work outside of normal business hours may be required.* Pay Band: B13 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
