The University of Louisville School of Dentistry prepares students for a career in Dentistry. Programs are available at the DMD level in general dentistry and the master's level in endodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and prosthodontics. Dental Clinic Support employees are an integral part of that preparation in that they provide support to the students in all areas of preclinical and clinical activities, including but not limited to instrument supply, dispensary, sterilization and simulation. In their first two years of studies, students learn in a traditional classroom setting supplemented by simulation and lab experience. During their third and fourth year, students transition to providing care for patients in a live clinic setting. Dental Clinic Support staff directly support the work of the students as they progress towards completion of their pre-clinical and clinical requirements.
The Dental Supply Technician I position provides instruments and dental materials to students providing treatment within the DMD clinics on the first floor.
May be eligible for $3,000 sign-on/ retention bonus per ULSD policies and procedures
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the faculty, peers and supervisors to deliver customer service oriented and patient centered care within the clinics.
Dispense instruments, supplies and small equipment to staff and students throughout the day’s appointments.
Check in equipment after use, maintaining inventory for all items that have left the dispensary.
Transport soiled instruments, cassettes and hand pieces to Central Sterilization for processing.
Retrieve sterilized instruments from Central Sterilization to the first floor dispensary for use, maintaining an appropriate level of supply, and replacing as needed.
Maintain stock of inner clinic supply locations, ordering replacement supplies as needed.
Maintain HIPAA, OSHA and Infection Control compliance at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
