ACADEMIC SURGICAL PATHOLOGIST

DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY & LABORATORY MEDICINE

The Department of Pathology at the University of Louisville continues to experience a robust phase of growth and expansion and is seeking a full-time academic Surgical Pathologist. This position has some flexibility with scheduled hours and may be filled at .8 FTE to 1 FTE.

The candidates should have a strong interest in promoting the academic mission, including maintaining scholarly activities and participating in graduate and undergraduate medical education.

Additionally, the preferred candidate will have a strong interest in fulfilling a leadership role in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). We seek individuals who are not only qualified but also passionate about advancing medical education and fostering an inclusive learning environment. A commitment to mentoring students and collaborating with faculty is essential, as is a vision for innovative curriculum development that meets the evolving needs of the healthcare landscape.

Applicants should have fellowship training or a strong and proven interest in one or more of the following practice areas: medical kidney, breast, gynecologic, head and neck pathology; hematopathology; and pathology informatics.

Prior work experience in an academic setting is desirable. A track record of educational achievements and publications demonstrating clinical and scientific accomplishments is also desirable.

The selected candidate will join a team of accomplished and high-energy faculty who embody collaborative teamwork and foster a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment. The applicants should be board certified in anatomic or combined anatomic and clinical pathology and be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The academic rank and salary will be based upon level of qualifications, experience, and scholarly accomplishments.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a leader in digital pathology and artificial intelligence with a 100% digital clinical workflow that affords residents and faculty unique opportunities and allows them the flexibility of remote access.
