NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$109,300 - $185,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
Organization 10510, Controller Operations, is currently seeking a Manager, Accounting Operations to lead the Payroll Department (10512). If you are excited to lead a team that is responsible for a range of critical functions, including the bi-weekly payment of employee wages, timekeeping and payment analysis, ledger account analysis, correction processing, executive compensation, and compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as payroll program administration, then we want you to join our team.The department collaborates closely with teams that support our commercial payroll systems, as well as various Human Resource organizations in NM/CA, Legal, and other departments across the Labs.
On any given day, your responsibilities may include:
- Administer the end-to-end payroll process for 16,000+ employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Manage daily payroll operations in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines, collaborating with all levels of staff and management.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, collective bargaining agreements, and federal, state, and local laws, as well as accounting, audit, and cost accounting standards, including tax filings and reporting.
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Build internal and external collaborative working relationships and form cross functional partnerships with peers, teams and Controller Operations.
- Partner and work with HR and management to provide strategic solutions to benefit program changes and provide expertise for problem solving to formulate alternative solutions.
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing training and support as needed.
- Coordinate with internal/external auditors during payroll audits.
- Must have the ability to work outside a regular schedule to ensure critical deadlines are met.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 80% of the time.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, plus eight or more years payroll or directly related experience in accounting, finance or business management, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Master's degree in accounting or related field.
- CPA or equivalent professional certification.
- Extensive experience in managing a complex payroll function in a large organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment managing multiple deliverables with competing deadlines and priorities.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
- Experience using Oracle PeopleSoft/HCM software.
- Technical acumen for information technology.

Security Clearance:
