Job Description
The Department of Media at Ball State University, in collaboration with the School of Art, is seeking a talented visual effects artist or virtual production specialist to fill a full-time faculty position (non-tenure) in our undergraduate program. The successful candidate will teach visual effects and/or virtual production in the Department of Media, with collaborative teaching responsibilities in the School of Art. The new hire will work in our newly renovated studios, which include a virtual production environment, and will be an instrumental leader the colleges’ XR initiative.

Minimum Experience:
Minimum qualifications include:
1). Master’s degree in media, art, or a related field, with professional portfolio demonstrating visual effects or virtual production work.
or
2). Bachelor’s degree in media, art, or a related field, with 10 years of professional experience and a portfolio of professional visual effects or virtual production work.
Ability to produce content in and be able to effectively teach the following programs: Unreal Engine 5, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Substance Painter and Autodesk Maya. Equivalent experience in other 3D software packages, such as Cinema 4D or Blender, will be considered.

Preferred Experience:
Terminal degree in media, art, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in sound and video production, studio production, motion capture, node-based compositing, Houdini, ZBrush, or Unity. Applicants with MFAs are encouraged to apply.
