Facilities Services' responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting PDC and their project managers in providing, planning, programming, design, and construction management to support AU. This includes, but is not limited to: education, administration, research, and clinical functions on the campus and remote facilities.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supports the Project Manger in planning and programming expertise for University /Medical Center, clinical and administrative programs. Provides accurate construction estimates and schedules for proposed projects.
  • Supports the Project Manager in the coordinate the design of small, routine and large, complex University projects including conceptual design, design development, and projects specifications to ensure satisfactory compliance with clinical, operational .and user needs in accordance with Regulatory Codes and guidelines including but not limited to OCH, OSHA, NFPA, and AIA.
  • Supports the Project Manager in providing construction management services for small, routine and large, complex Lump sum Bid, Design-Build and Time and Material Cost Plus renovation and construction projects. Conducts regular project progress meetings and site inspections to facilitate construction and ensure the work is in accordance with specifications, drawings and schedules. Monitor budget vs. actual expenditures during construction, notifying the Project Manager of potential problems.
  • Provides assistance to the Project Manager for direction to consultants, contractors, and vendors through all phases of projects, including, but not limited to design, construction, commissioning, and close out phases and verifies compliance with contract specifications and drawings.
  • Provide Engineering assistance for architectural, civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering requirements for maintenance problems or constructions projects.
  • Provides trouble-shooting expertise to assist maintenance personnel in the continuing operation of the Medical Center/University facilities.
  • Recommends approval of project invoices submitted by contractors and vendors to the Project Manager and Director of Construction.
  • Review for Project Manager changes to the project scope as initiated by the architect, engineer, contractor or user group.
  • Prepares and monitors Interim Life Safety Measures, Pre-Construction Risk Assessments, and Infection Control Risk Assessment.
  • Enforces all departments policies and procedures with support from the Project Manager and performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Construction, Building, Planning or related field of study and 1 year of relevant experience
OR
2 years of relevant facilities project management experience
OR
Military background with facilities project management experience
Other Required Qualifications
Valid Drivers License issued to operate AU vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Construction Management/Project Management experience is preferred. PMP Certification CHC Certification is preferred. Local Construction Market Experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications. Knowledge in building HVAC and electrical systems and design. Direct knowledge of compliance requirements as they relate to an academic campus setting.
Ability to track data and metrics to drive decisions.
Ability to think strategically and staying abreast of industry trends and technology.
SKILLS
Decisions regarding compliance with plans, specifications, and general project intent are critical.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F
Pay Band: 9
Salary Minimum: $23.46/hour - $23.55/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
