Department Summary

The mission of M Housing is to create and sustain diverse learning-centered residential communities that are supportive for all residents and staff. Through partnership with others, we provide quality programs, services, and facilities for those we serve. Michigan Housing is a self-funded auxiliary enterprise and part of the Division of Student Life.

Job Summary

This position will support the day to day operations of accommodation services, coordinating with campus partners and others as needed. They will lead the coordination of the residential programming efforts for Diversity and Inclusion. Support the work of the accommodations team by responding to inquiries and follow up to resolve student concerns and needs. This position will support a service oriented culture with a strong focus on a positive student experience.

This is a limited term appointment through December 31, 2025, with the potential to re-evaluate for an extension.
This term limited, full time position is benefits-eligible. Some evenings and weekends are required.

Responsibilities*
Operational Leadership (50%)
Hire, train, and lead a team responsible for operating accommodations and support of residents.
Organize the coordinating team, assign responsibilities, develop project schedules, establish shift schedules for programming students and staff to address operational needs of events.
Evaluate various courses of action and make operational decisions in alignment with the Student Life mission related to accommodations and Diversity and Inclusion programming.
Serve as a partner main point of contact during operating hours and urgent after hour needs for all accommodations needs.
Create and implement new standard operating procedures and policies for accommodations with campus partners.

Customer Service (30%)
Address questions, concerns and urgent needs of students with accommodation; including staff, students, campus partners, and parents/families as applicable.
Monitor after hour emails and voicemails, responding to urgent needs.
Lead a service oriented culture with a strong focus on the student experiences as they navigate the accommodations process.
Facilitate timely responses to all inquiries related to the accommodations protocols.

Administration (20%)
Provide oversight for the planning and implementation of logistics for the day to day operation.
Optimize, document and standardize sustainable processes.
Update and manage data in StarRez to accurately reflect student accommodation
Prepare and update operating tracking logs and spreadsheets and reconcile data using StarRez and other M Housing platforms.
Work with the Diversity and Inclusion staff to assess the effectiveness of Diversity and Inclusion programs and social justice interventions in residential communities and how it supports the DEI campus-wide strategic plan.
Alongside Diversity and Inclusion staff create and coordinate programs and events sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by M Housing.
Manage multicultural council funds and budgets.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's Degree
Experience working with a diverse student population within a multicultural office or similar environment
Experience delivering supportive customer service
Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Desired Qualifications*
Master's Degree
Experience with program development and implementation
Experience managing competing priorities
Experience supervising, hiring and training staff
Experience working or living in on-campus housing or community settings

Working conditions

The job requires working evening and weekend hours and traveling to multiple M Housing locations on campus. The position is an onsite position and shares office coverage responsibilities.
Possibility for one (1) day remote work a week after a 6 month probationary period.

Physical requirements
Be able to move and transport packages and boxes up to 25 lbs

Direct reports
Supervise approximately 2-3 student support coordinators.

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.
