Job Summary:

Information and Technology Services (ITS) at the University of Michigan has an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) working with the Information Assurance (IA) team. This position will report to the Interim Chief Information Security Officer.

This BSA position will require analysis of business processes and systems, supporting production services, and new projects related to enhancing Information Assurance's capabilities that will improve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of U-M systems. As a member of a high performing team, the BSA will develop, implement, and continuously improve IA capabilities including but not limited to, risk management, vulnerability management, sensitive data discovery, security advising, advanced endpoint protection, and incident response.

The Information Assurance (IA) Office:

Directs IT security, policy, compliance, privacy, enterprise continuity, and identity and access management (IAM) strategy across the entire university.
Proactively mitigates IT security risks in partnership with U-M's campuses UM-Ann Arbor, UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint, and Michigan Medicine.
Collaborates with U-M units to:
Develop university IT security, privacy, and IAM strategy.
Implement best practice security, privacy, and IAM infrastructure and protocols.
Takes a risk-based approach to securing the university's most sensitive information assets that enables teaching, learning, research, and healthcare in a large open environment.
Provides operational information assurance and IAM services that enable the university to excel in its research, teaching, and patient care missions
Provides guidance to the entire university community on IT security and privacy compliance best practices to help individuals protect university systems and data, as well as their own personal information.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with team members and customers and contribute to the effort to develop, implement, and continuously improve services to meet customer needs, including but not limited to, risk management, vulnerability management, sensitive data discovery, security advising, advanced endpoint protection, and incident response.
Create effort projections, including resource and time estimates; use request tracking to enter, track, and resolve customer requests for changes or enhancements to IA capabilities.
Contribute to hardware, software, and services enhancements by identifying when established processes are not working or there are gaps in processes and makes recommendations for improvements; support data analytics needs including database queries and the creation of reports and reporting dashboards.
Provide information assurance and security policy practices; ensure users are aware of IT security procedures; partner with IT to implement data security reviews, risk assessments and compliance with our standards
Maintain and update knowledge of IT procedures, hardware, software, and technical services.
Promote cooperation and customer relationships and ensure incidents and requests receive proper follow up.
Lead cross-functional meetings within and outside of ITS, including informational and/or fact-finding meetings. Plan and execute effective, efficient meetings.
Work, as assigned, with vendors. Understand and utilize service level agreements. Contribute to the creation, selection and review of Requests for Proposals.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of related experience in a process area or systems support; to include systems analysis and design
Demonstrated skills in business systems analysis, requirements gathering, design, documentation, and system testing.
Demonstrated ability to learn new software, understand technical information, and communicate it to others using clear, concise, and user-friendly language
Demonstrated effective creative problem solving and flexibility when collaborating with customers, team members, support teams, external vendors, and technical organizations to understand, advocate for, evaluate, and support enhancements, resulting in plans and services that leverage the capabilities of existing technology and meet customer and organizational expectations.
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills including strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively through all levels of management and matrix organizations
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers in a manner that consistently meets the organization's expectations for exemplary customer service.
Excellent organizational, analytical and independent problem-solving skills
Ability to influence others in the building and maintaining consensual approach with a wide array of diverse business interests
