Summary

A Research Assistant Position is immediately available in Department of Medicine and Cardiovascular Research Institute at Baylor College of Medicine. The project is seeking a motivated and experienced candidate to assist with studies on cardiovascular diseases.

Job Duties

  • Design and conduct Experiments and Collaborate: Perform experiments independently while also coordinating and collaborating with team members. Collect and analyze results, and report findings to the Principal Investigator.
  • Lab Organization and Meetings: Assist the Principal Investigator in maintaining and organizing the laboratory space. Attend regular lab meetings to present preliminary data and engage in discussions about ongoing research.
  • Animal Maintenance: Care for and maintain small experimental animals, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and proper handling procedures.
  • Manuscript Preparation: Assist the Principal Investigator in writing manuscripts that describe research results for submission to scientific journals. This includes generating graphs and tables for internal review, as well as for grant applications and publications.
  • Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, or a health science)
  • Master’s degree basic science or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to histology, animal husbandry, and biochemical techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage experiment procedures.
