Job Description
Job Purpose
The Security Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and assists in implementing new cybersecurity technologies and practices used by the Office of Information Security (ISO) team using industry best practices and manages cyber risk to protect the data security of the University, students, faculty, and staff. Candidate should be well versed in the concepts of IT security architecture and design, identity management, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, policy maintenance, application security, community outreach, and security awareness training. They will be expected to assist in projects, conduct security assessments, and represent the logical and physical security interests of the University’s information systems and electronic information assets in various settings.

Essential Functions
Manage and monitor systems to identify potential issues and supervise
junior security analysts performing similar job duties. Work with subordinates and staff to deploy innovative compliance management and application security solutions. Assist in the maintenance of TTU Information Security Program documents. Assist in managing the training, processes, tools, and technologies that help reduce risk to TTU’s information assets. Mentor junior analysts to grow their skillsets and effectiveness in the cybersecurity field. Oversee the preparation of departmental reports. Lead technical risk assessments and compliance reviews to secure
University systems and processes. Participate as a member of the Cyber-Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Any discipline will be considered if the applicant has the required work experience. Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in Information Technology (IT) with at least four (4) years focused on the cybersecurity or information security field. Must have experience in a leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
· 10 (10)+ years of relevant work experience and software experience with the following: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Splunk, CrowdStrike, KnowBe4, Delinea, Fortinet, etc.
· Experience with PII, FERPA, and/or HIPAA data types and security standards.
· Familiarity with NIST 800 family frameworks and controls.
· Two (2)+ years of experience working in a higher education IT environment.
· Master’s Degree in a computer-technical or business-oriented field.
· IT certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, etc.
· Experience as an incident response team member.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 16.
