The school of Nursing is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to work in a 100% clinical position in the tuberculosis clinic of Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMDPHW). Although this faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is based at LMDPHW, the position is maintained in the School of Nursing and is funded by the LMDPHW. This practice-based position requires the NP to administer protocol-based assessment and treatment to adults and children who may have been exposed to or had a positive tuberculosis screening test and who need to follow-up for additional testing and treatment. The individual must possess excellent communication skills and abilities, be flexible, work in a team-based environment and follow through on matters related to patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complete advanced-level assessment from individuals, groups, and the community. Formulate diagnoses, develop, and implement plan of care and provide health-promotion activities. Evaluate patient progress and outcomes. Identify and implement evidence-based nursing practice; assist with the creation of evidence. Consult, refer, and collaborate with other members of the patient care team. Serve as a resource and mentor for new patient care staff. Assist with the orientation of new staff. Serve as preceptor of advanced practice nursing students. Maintain currency of knowledge, skills, and credentialing by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Maintain appropriate medical/health records. Participate in activities related to expanding the practice volume. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
5 years’ experience as RN and/or Nurse Practitioner.
Master’s degree required.
Nurse Practitioner national certification: ANP, AGNP, or FNP.
Kentucky RN and APRN unrestricted licenses.
Collaborative prescribing agreement with MD at LMDPHW (after hired) if less than 4 years’ experience as an NP.
Preferred Qualifications
FNP specialization
Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP)
Experience as an APRN in a specialty area such as: Infectious disease or Pulmonology
