Position Description:

The Temporary Research Technician I at the OAKS lab will perform astronomy and astrophysics research in collaboration with the OAKS mentors across the state of Kentucky. Research projects are expected to be completed in a year with intermediate results shown at the American Astronomical Society Meeting in January 2025.

Duties of the position include:

  • Research, presentation of research (oral and written), and attending the OAKS lecture series and Python online class.

  • Feedback on the OAKS program and suggestions for improvement for future cohorts and a collaborative reporting on this cohort’s functioning, results, and future careers.

An active interest in astronomy, enrollment in physics, astronomy, or a related science major in a college in Kentucky, and a willingness to learn and travel is required.

This temporary position is part time working 15 hours per week.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
