The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, scholarly activities, and community engagement. As general internists, we apply scientific knowledge, clinical expertise and compassion to prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. We care for diverse patients in primary care outpatient settings as well as hospitalized patients. Our collaborative interdisciplinary teams practice at Baylor Medicine Clinic, Baylor St. Luke's CHI Hospitals (Medical Center, Sugarland, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. Founded in 1953, we are one of the largest education programs in the United States with more than 700 trainees, and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Our healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities and our department's clinical excellence is recognized in U.S. News and World Report. Our departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical, attracting $79.5 million in total extramural funding, including more than $62 million from the NIH as well as other federal sources.

Summary

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Hospitalist to provide services at CHI St. Luke's- Woodlands. The ideal candidates are patient-centered and committed to excellence in providing quality care in an inpatient setting.

Job Duties

  • Positions are clinical with direct inpatient care on a 7 on/ 7 off block schedule.
  • Provide medical care to adults in the inpatient care setting. Supervise residents, medical students, and other learners as needed.
  • Coordinate with outpatient care teams for safe discharge of patients.
  • Participate in any team meetings. Work with the team to develop the appropriate order sets and procedures that are needed.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and research projects. Collaborate nationally with known leaders in the field. Keep up with continuing medical education as per college and section requirements.
  • Renewing and meeting all required licenses and certification requirements.
  • Familiarize with EPIC- electronic medical records and document all patient encounters as needed.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner so that billing and other administrative tasks can happen smoothly to ensure a robust operational system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: MD, DO; Board Certified or board eligible.
  • Licensure Requirement: Licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
