Baylor College of Medicine and Department Summary:

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, scholarly activities, and community engagement. As general internists, we apply scientific knowledge, clinical expertise and compassion to prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. We care for diverse patients in primary care outpatient settings as well as hospitalized patients. Our collaborative interdisciplinary teams practice at Baylor Medicine McNair Clinic, CHI St. Luke's Hospitals (Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Sugar Land, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. Founded in 1953, we are one of the largest education programs in the United States with more than 700 trainees, and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Our healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities and our department's clinical excellence is recognized in U.S. News and World Report. Our departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical, attracting $79.5 million in total extramural funding, including more than $62 million from the NIH as well as other federal sources.

Summary

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking quality applicants who are interested in working in our Section in our Hospital Medicine programs or Primary Care Clinics. The ideal candidates are patient-centered and committed to excellence in providing quality care, education, scholarship, and community engagement.

Candidates can select within the application which roles and sites they prefer to work in. Potential roles include hospitalist, nocturnist and primay care (outpatient) and the sites are Baylor Medicine McNair Clinic, CHI St. Luke's Hospitals (Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Sugar Land, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education Requirement: MD, DO; Board Certified or board eligible.

• Licensure Requirement: Licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
