ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY The Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance is one of two programs in the State of Florida to offer degree programs in risk management and insurance and is one of the few named schools of risk management and insurance in the country. In addition to strong financial support from industry, the school also benefits from the support of an experienced and active Risk Advisory Council. The current hiring plan reflects the ongoing commitment at the University of South Florida to support the school as it pursues the overarching goal of being a leading program in risk management and insurance. Working with the leadership of the Sarasota-Manatee campus and the Muma College of Business, our industry partners, and other key stakeholders, our objectives are to educate and support the development of the next generation of talented risk management and insurance professionals, to produce high-quality research that informs public policy and the academic literature, and to service consumers, the risk management industry in the Tampa Bay region, and the State of Florida through the dissemination of information related to risk and its management.
The Muma College of Business operates in an exciting, vibrant, innovation-friendly environment on all three campuses. Over the past few years, USF received over $60 million from key donors to name the Muma College of Business, The Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance, the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, the Monica Wooden Center for Supply Chain Management and Sustainability, the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program, and the Bellini Center for Talent Development. In recent years, the Muma College of Business also successfully launched the Center for Marketing and Sales Innovation. Last fall, the Muma College of Business achieved a milestone in awarding over $1 million in scholarships to its students.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance at the Muma College of Business, University of South Florida, invites applications for a full-time Instructor in Risk Management and Insurance. The school is housed at the Sarasota-Manatee campus and operates on all three campuses of USF (Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee). Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance, Actuarial Science, or a related field or an equivalent degree (e.g., J.D., DBA) from a university accredited in that field or expect to complete a Ph.D. (or J.D. or DBA) before the start date. Applicants with a master’s degree in risk management and insurance or a related field and significant relevant professional work experience will also be considered. The successful candidate will be able to effectively teach courses in risk management and insurance and should demonstrate the ability to fully support the school’s student engagement and development efforts. While course delivery will primarily be in-person, the successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the ability to teach effectively in an online environment. In addition, candidates should demonstrate a willingness to maintain certification as a Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic under AACSB guidelines. This is a full-time, 9-month position. Compensation for summer courses, when scheduled, is in addition to the base salary

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
Meets or can meet the College’s criteria for AACSB Scholarly Practitioner or Instructional Practitioner designation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant professional work experience in risk management and insurance or related field.
Evidence of superior teaching ability in risk management and insurance or general business topics at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
A Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance, Actuarial Science, a related field or an equivalent degree (e.g., J.D., DBA) from a university accredited in that field, or a master’s degree in risk management and insurance or related field with significant relevant work experience.
Evidence of ability to support the growth of the school, and the development of its students.
Meets or can meet the College’s criteria for AACSB Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic designation.
Other Qualifications:
Evidence of ability to make service contributions to the university and the profession.
Expectation that the candidate will be collegial.
Reputation of the program granting the candidate’s degree.
Reputation of program(s) and organizations where the candidate is or has been previously employed.
