Job Description
Summary
The Division of Evaluation, Assessment, & Education Research (EAR) within the BCM School of Medicine seeks a Senior Data Analyst for an entry-level faculty position (instructor or assistant professor). This analyst will contribute to the development and ongoing implementation of processes for collecting and analyzing medical education program evaluation data and create customized reports for curriculum deans, directors, and committees to monitor curriculum quality and foster program improvement. The Senior Data Analyst will also contribute to the EAR team's overall mission in program evaluation, learner performance assessment, education research, and accreditation efforts in the context of BCM's ongoing medical education curriculum improvement.
Job Duties
Work closely with medical school colleagues - including deans, directors, faculty, and staff - in developing and implementing rigorous and innovative program evaluation processes for an emerging and evolving medical school curriculum.
- Provide statistical analysis, quantitative data management, and related support for program evaluation, performance assessment, education research, and accreditation activities at BCM.
- Contribute to and complete scoring and performance summary processes for longitudinal assessment programs in a competence-based medical education program.
- Analyze a wide variety of data sets for medical education research projects.
- Design and execute customized reports to support multiple levels of curricular review and accreditation processes.
- Contribute to the EAR team's qualitative, text analysis responsibilities including analyzing text-based student survey data to identify and report on emergent themes related to course improvement.
- Provide expertise to faculty, students, and staff in response to needs related to routine and complex statistical analysis.
- Communicate data analysis findings concisely and effectively to stakeholders including medical school deans, directors, and school committees.
- Collaborate with team members of the Division of Evaluation, Assessment, & Education Research to improve program evaluation and learning assessment services for stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD, EdD, or equivalent terminal degree in education, statistics/psychometrics, or other related field with expertise and experience in analysis of educational program data.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability and desire to flourish in a team-oriented position.
- Comfort dealing with uncertainty in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of prior experience with one or more of the following: statistical analysis, data science, data management, qualitative analysis, or text analysis.
- At least 2 years of experience in: higher education program evaluation, and IT systems used in higher education performance assessment and/or program evaluation (examples include ExamSoft, Leo, Qualtrics, RedCap, etc.)
- Experience with program evaluation and improvement processes, such as administration of course and teaching evaluation surveys
- Familiarity with scholarship in medical education
- Experience in health professions education
