Summary

The Office of the Chief Operating Officer is looking for an experienced Senior Business Operations Manager to lead the administrative and financial operations of the Texas Children's operating unit. This position involves coordinating with the administrative leadership of Texas Children's Hospital to align administrative and operational goals and strategies. The role is dynamic, fast-paced, and critical to the long-term success of the relationship between TCH and BCM.

The ideal candidate must possess strong operational and communication skills and gain the confidence of faculty, staff, leaders, and colleagues. They must display a professional and positive attitude and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. They should also be able to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines. They should be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and possess strong organizational skills. They should be able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments, effectively prioritize tasks, understand processes, and resolve issues.

Job Duties

Operational Leadership

  • Manage the daily operations of the TCH operating unit, including human resources, compliance, and financial management.
  • Manage the human resources activities for the Texas Children's operating unit and several Texas Children's Hospital-based departments, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
  • Actively collaborate with TCH department practice administrators, College stakeholders, and TCH leadership to maximize effective business operations.
  • Oversee or originate special projects or programs.

Financial Management

  • Develop, manage, and control budgets and financial data for several Texas Children's Hospital-based departments.
  • Establish financial and operational systems to monitor, control, verify expenditures, and conduct financial analyses.
  • May oversee or originate pre-award and post-award related projects and tasks in support of TCH-based department faculty members.
  • Review and approve all statements of accounts, payroll, human resources, and invoice actions.

People Management

  • Manage primarily supervisors and experienced professional-level employees, including defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Develop plans for improving utilization of resources and maintaining operating unit efficiency while seeking to minimize operational costs.
  • Formulate guidelines for TCH operating units' activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree inFinance or Accounting.
  • Seven years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in an academic and/or healthcare environment.
