Job Summary
A research engineer associate position in biomedical imaging, data science, and artificial intelligence is immediately available in the Quantitative Bioimaging Laboratory at the Center for Imaging and Surgical Innovation at the University of Texas at Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The research engineer associate will work in a collaborative research team that includes biomedical engineers, computer scientists, electrical engineers, radiologists, surgeons, and other clinicians. The candidate will collaborate with other researchers, residents, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students in an outstanding research group. The research laboratory is located in the Bioengineering and Science Building at the University of Texas at Dallas. The candidate will have the opportunity for high-quality training in research, education, and leadership. Research areas cover biomedical imaging, medical devices, machine learning, augmented reality, image processing, and image-guided interventions.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in the field of assignment.

Preferred Education and Experience
The preferred candidate should have a bachelor or master’s degree in biomedical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, systems engineering, computer science, public health, or other related fields. The preferred candidate should have some experience in research study design and/coordination. Knowledge of biomedical imaging and its biological and medical applications is required for this position. This position requires research initiatives and independent problem-solving skills. Excellent judgment and communication skills are required for identifying and executing troubleshooting efforts for lab research activities and interactions with other units of the university and outside entities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The individual will closely work with the lab director on the following tasks:
Perform research projects under the supervision of the lab director.
Be involved in other lab research activities and report to the lab director.
Design and perform imaging experiments on the supervision of the lab director.
Perform data analysis and produce research results.
Write and submit abstracts and manuscripts for publications.
Coordinate research projects and lab activities.
Assist the lab director for grant proposal submissions.
Assist the lab director for other lab management tasks.
Work closely with the lab director and other lab members for other lab activities and tasks.

Additional Information
This position is renewable pending funding availability and satisfactory performance. A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
