As the most extensive collegiate dance program in Georgia, the KSU Department of Dance offers a B.A. in Dance with concentrations in ballet and modern dance, and a minor in Dance. KSU Dance employs 18 full/part-time faculty, and is housed in state-of-the-art dance facilities, including metropolitan Atlanta's only Dance Theater. The KSU Dance Company has received top honors at the American College Dance Association and has been invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in five national years.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Dance in the Department of Dance with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in the area of Dance History/Theory, Dance Analysis & Criticism, and other topics in the candidate's area of specialization.
Develop and maintain an active program of peer-reviewed scholarship/research activities.
Engage in institutional and professional service.
Additional departmental responsibilities include student success initiatives, recruitment, assessment, curricular development, and participation in department and university activities that serve programmatic goals and the mission of the university.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
A terminal MFA, PhD, or EdD, or the foreign equivalent, in Dance History/Theory, Dance Studies, or related field.
Demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Demonstrated record of scholarship/creative activity.
NOTE: Strong ABD candidates may be considered. The degree must be earned by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of collegiate teaching.
Demonstrated record of support of undergraduate research/creative activity mentorship, or other projects that foster student success.
