Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Biology at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#103320) in physiology at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
The Department of Biology hosts undergraduate biology and forensic science majors, a Master’s program in Biology, and an Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in Molecular Biosciences. Please visit https://biology.mtsu.edu/ to learn more about all the opportunities our dynamic department provides.
Responsibilities:
Research: Utilizing a competitive start-up package, conduct independent research and mentor undergraduate, MS, and PhD students to achieve national and international recognition. Develop an externally funded research program suitable for mentoring master’s and doctoral graduate students.
Teaching: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in physiology and other related courses.
Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
Required Education
A terminal degree in biology, physiology, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with post-doctoral research experience, a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and grant or fellowship funding that reflects high productivity commensurate with the applicant’s current career stage will receive special consideration. Also, those with the expertise and ability to teach and mentor in biomedical sciences will receive special consideration.
