The Development Associate in the Pamplin Advancement Department will provide executive support to the Assistant Dean of Advancement as well as support various advancement tasks. This position will provide confidential and comprehensive administrative support to ensure efficient office operations under the guidance of the Lead Administrator and helps to manage daily workflow, coordinating and scheduling meetings and will work closely with the Dean's administrative team. Duties to include scheduling the Assistant Dean's calendar, which includes internal advancement, central advancement, and extensive external meetings with donors and senior volunteers and coordinating advancement scheduling with the Dean's Office, entering travel and HokieMart orders, and maintaining AIMS tracking for donor contacts and other tracking. Will maintain calendars, make travel arrangements, assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, and briefings ensuring smooth workflow and facilitating effective interaction within and outside the university in support of Pamplin College of Business advancement fundraising, alumni engagement and communications efforts in support of the Assistant Dean and by extension the dean of the college. Must have a positive attitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with highest degree of confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated administrative office experience in an academic or professional office setting with increasing levels of responsibility. Demonstrated skills with proficiency using software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook calendaring. Strong basic math skills. Demonstrated experience making travel arrangements, preparing travel reimbursements, and preparing itineraries. Ability to write professional correspondence using correct grammar without the use of a template. Ability to prepare basic briefings using a template in support of meetings and other senior administrators. Possess strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects in priority order. Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while performing multiple responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take ownership of the position. Must possess strong professional interpersonal skills for positive external communications and interactions. Display good judgment and diplomacy skills in working with various levels of both internal and external clients providing excellent customer service via telephone or in person. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to keep conversations and information pertinent to the role of the Deans and others in the college confidential.

Preferred Qualifications

Office management experience. Experience using relational databases. Experience working in development or fundraising. Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of related training and or experience.
