Job Description

Position Summary
The Student Success Center at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Administrative Manager-TRIO Talent Search North position. The TRIO Talent Search (TS) is a federally-funded TRIO grant program and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education. The program publicizes the availability of financial aid and assist participant with the
postsecondary application process. Talent Search also encourages persons who have not completed education programs at the secondary or postsecondary level to enter or reenter and complete postsecondary education. The project will serve 500 students who attend Cardozo Middle School, Peeples Middle School and Forest Hill High School, all in the Jackson Public School District.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
Career/Technical Certificate or Associate’s degree with aspirations to complete Bachelor’s degree.
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Business Administration or a related field.
Minimum Required Experience
Experience working in an environment where records are kept confidential.

Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines
Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with others effectively.
Understanding of and ability to work with low income, first generation, and at-risk students.
Ability to work as a team player in a diverse working environment.

Ability to work some evenings and weekends
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Answer and direct phone calls
Organize and schedule appointments
Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
Develop and maintain a filing system
Update and maintain office policies and procedures
Order office supplies and research new deals and suppliers
Maintain contact lists
Book travel arrangements
Submit and reconcile expense reports
Provide general support to visitors
Act as the point of contact for internal and external clients
Liaise with executive and senior administrative managers to handle requests and queries from senior managers
Submit reports timely and as required.
Other duties as may be assigned.
