Research Technician I
Job Description
Summary
The lab is looking for a well-organized and skilled research technician for a research laboratory. This technician position is ideal for recent undergraduates in the biomedical field who want to acquire practical research skills prior to going to graduate or medical school. The job covers all aspects of the research in the laboratory ranging from ordering and shelving research items, managing mouse colony to performing experiments and will provide a rich learning environment. Research Technician will be expected to exhibit initiative, work with mice, be technically proficient and accurate, effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations, initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures and possess attention to detail.
Job Duties
- Orders reagents, finds nest offers, follows-up, shelves reagents.
- Maintains clean lab environment.
- Learns to work with mice and rats.
- Genotypes mice, rats and weans newborns.
- Maintains a mouse colony.
- Performs mouse experiments.
- Learns to work with cells, enteroids and harvested mouse tissue, extracts DNA and RNA, and performs molecular biology experiments.
- Orders supplies, maintains laboratory, maintains mouse colony and performs experiments.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate\'s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (recent graduates) and science-related fields who plan going to Medical or Graduate School.
