Job Description
Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a half-time guest faculty position in Modern and Contemporary Art History in Spring 2025. The candidate will teach one lecture course in Postwar and Contemporary Euro-American Art in a Global Context. We seek a specialist of any subfield or region within the field of Modern and Contemporary Art History who is committed to undergraduate teaching.
Please note that Sarah Lawrence teaching is unique: lecture courses (capped at 45 students) contain either A.) two weekly lectures (each 1.5 hours) and four bi-weekly “group conferences” (c. 15 students at a time) (one hour each) or B.) one weekly lecture (two hours) and weekly “group conferences” (c. 15-20 students at a time) (one and a half hours each).

Application materials must include: cover letter, curriculum vitae, a sample syllabus for a postwar and contemporary art survey, teaching evaluations, and three letters of recommendation. In your cover letter, please include a statement of how your teaching considers inclusive pedagogies.

Compensation listed for this position is on a per-course basis, contingent on teaching experience.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or advanced ABD in Art History or a related field; and experience teaching Art History to undergraduates.
