TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION

The Division of Immunotherapy, Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville (UofL) School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level with research emphasis on tumor immunology, particularly involving experimental cellular immunotherapy.

Department of Surgery: The department is strongly research-oriented with major research programs in several areas, including immunology and cancer. The newly recruited faculty member will have laboratory space in the new Clinical Translational Research Building (CTRB) that is fully equipped for research in molecular and cellular immunology, including live cell imaging, genomics, flow cytometry and state of the art animal housing with germ-free facilities and whole-animal imaging capability.

James Graham Brown Cancer Center (JGBCC): The JGBCC is making critical contributions to clinical care through pioneering translational and clinical research programs. The Immuno-Oncology Program at the JGBCC has more than 20 members and the research goals of this program are two-fold: (1) to activate host immunity against cancer cells, and (2) to suppress inflammation that can lead to cancer. Our center conducted the first-in-human, first-in-class dose escalation trial of the anti-CTLA4 iplimumab and was a leader in the clinical testing of immuno-stimulatory oncoviruses and anti-PD1 in combination with anti-CTLA4. The JGBCC operates a dedicated CAR T cell GMP facility for the production of novel CAR T cells for testing in multiple cancers, is a leader in the clinical testing of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and has a dedicated specimen and tissue repository to support immunological research related to these novel cellular therapies.

Facilities and Research Partners: The UofL School of Medicine provides an outstanding research environment and the majority of the departmental faculty are also members of either the Center for Predictive Medicine (CPM), Center for Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy (CCII), or Center for Functional Microbiomics, Inflammation and Pathogenicity (CFMIP). The current position offers a wide range of resources as well as collaborative research opportunities. The state-of-the-art facilities of the Immuno-Oncology program at the JGBCC include a biorepository for clinical specimen collection, clinical trial office, and the newly purchased CyTOF (Functional Immunomics Core) to comprehensively phenotype immune landscape within the tumor microenvironment.

Candidate Requirements: Appointment is at the level of Assistant, Associate or Professor, with preference for candidates with a proven track record of successful, high impact research in the field of cellular immunotherapy. The successful applicant will participate in departmental activities, including mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, surgery residents and fellows. The position offers a competitive salary and startup package commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements: Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent
