Job Description
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the designated supervisor, performs duties related to the technical preparation and operation of materials, technical systems, and deliverables for events in the MPAP theaters. Plans, organizes, and performs technical and operational support activities for the MPAP theaters and shops under the direction of the area supervisor. Perform on-deck/backstage crew and maintenance responsibilities for department productions. Assists in the safe operation and maintenance of applicable theater sound, lighting, rigging, and related equipment and systems used in support of stage productions, meetings, and related events; assists with a variety of clerical office duties, including data entry and inventory management; performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Theatre/design training/certification, including ETCP Certified Entertainment Electric, ETC certificate in Eos console programming.
Required Experience:
3+ years experience with lighting for theater.
Preferred Experience:
Prior experience in coordinating the work of production crews; experience as a lighting, sound and video designer; experience with run hang, focus and notes calls for productions.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of theatrical lighting design and production practices. Ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot audio reinforcement and video playback, intercom systems, Mac OS computers and Qlab software. Proficiency in the use of Electronic theatre Controls Eos-family consoles and software; Lightwright. Ability to contract practical lighting and lighting prop effects, soldering equipment, basic rigging. Ability to read mechanical drawings and assess specification.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Moving light repairs, audio editing/live mix; videoediting, Isadora software.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $36.900. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
