Job Summary
The Department of Undergraduate Programs in the ETSU College of Nursing invites applications for one (1) open rank, 9-month position with specialization in psychiatric/mental health nursing and a focus on the care of patients with addiction/substance use disorder (SUD) treatment/recovery to start January 2025.
This position is one of five new faculty and two clinical fellow hires across four departments (Psychology, Counseling and Human Services, Nursing, and Social Work) focused on addiction and recovery. This position is for a one to three-year appointment and may be convertible to tenure-track no later than the end of year three of the appointment. Funding for the position is from the State of Tennessee’s Opioid Abatement Council. This position is one of a cohort of faculty and clinical fellows hired across behavioral health professions training programs who will help to grow the SUD workforce, and the skill set of the existing healthcare workforce around the region. In addition to support from the Department of Undergraduate Programs in the College of Nursing, this position will receive significant support for research from the Addiction Science Center. The Addiction Science Center partners with affected communities in Central Appalachia to advance the science of substance misuse prevention and treatment.
We seek an innovative and dedicated nursing educator with a strong commitment to teaching, scholarship, practice, and service. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute primarily to teaching in the undergraduate nursing program and, dependent on academic preparation, qualifications and department needs, may be asked to teach in graduate nursing programs. The position requires engagement in classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical-based teaching, supporting the development of future nursing professionals. The new faculty will join a dynamic group of nursing educators with a strong commitment to student success through innovative evidence-based teaching strategies, interprofessional collaboration, and fostering an environment where every student feels valued and supported.

Some appointments may be eligible for tenure. Qualifications for a clinical track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor require a terminal degree in nursing or related field. Clinical track appointments may be convertible to tenure-track no later than the end of year three of the appointment. Faculty rank and track commensurate with education and experience.
