Position Summary:

The Department of Physics at the University of South Florida, Tampa, seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, tenure-earning position at the Assistant Professor level in experiment or theory in quantum materials, sensors, photonics, computing, and related fields. All areas that encompass new applications in healthcare, environmental sensing, secure communications, and information science are included. Preference will be given to candidates with existing strengths in these areas. The starting date is August 7, 2025.

Applicants must have a doctorate in Physics or a closely related field. Applicants must have relevant postdoctoral experience and demonstrate potential for attracting independent extramural funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will establish a nationally recognized research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level, and mentor student research at all levels. QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Physics or closely related field from an accredited institution with the demonstrated record of achievements in academic research, and must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Preferred Qualifications: Relevant postdoctoral experience and demonstrated potential to attract extramural funding and teach at undergraduate and graduate level.
