The Office of the Provost at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for an Administrative Assistant to join our team who enjoys a fast-paced environment, is passionate about higher education, and has the flexibility to change focus following the university's mission. Led by the Executive Vice President and Provost, this office supports the academic mission of the university and the related services. The position will serve as an active Office of the Provost member and will provide administrative assistance to various Vice Provosts and the Provost's Chief of Staff. The position will assist with office management, oversee the continuity of Office of the Provost purchasing, coordinate and schedule meetings and trainings, and serve on behalf of the office for events and activities. This is an opportunity for someone with a ready and willing attitude to play a role in exciting new projects while learning about the entire university system.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Resolve administrative questions and issues; act as a liaison between faculty,
staff, students, and the public
Read, screen and process incoming correspondence, mail, phone calls, and
reports; forward items to the appropriate staff and administrators; diffuse
upset customers
Stay current with University issues, problems, activities, and special interests
Maintain and prioritize various Vice Provosts and Chief of Staff's calendars
Coordinate and schedule meetings and trainings, prepare correspondence, communication, and reports, create, and distribute agendas, minutes and supporting documentation
Gather additional information, provide data, and communicate issues to the Vice Provosts and Chief of Staff as needed
Exercise discretion and judgment with highly sensitive and confidential information
Researches, assembles, and develops various presentations, projects
Responsible for coordination and continuity of Office of the Provost operational purchasing
Assist with fiscal and HR transactions related to multiple the Vice Provosts and Provost's Chief of Staff

ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2024.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with Microsoft Office Suite and Workday experience are encouraged to apply.
