Under the supervision of the Maintenance Facilities Director, performs a variety of work in the maintenance of College properties and perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties Summary
Work Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday 12:00 am – 8:00 am.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs routine repairs such as unclogging toilets, sinks or urinals, troubleshooting and repairing when possible, water leaks, leaking faucets and water fountains, changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures, bulletin boards and install shelving and at times assists with campus table and chair set-ups.
Performs preventive building maintenance such as but not limited to, cleaning flat roof drains & gutter and leaders when necessary, repairing loose floor & ceramic tiles, stair treads; replace ceiling tiles, caulks windows & doors.
Performs routine sheet rocking, taping, plastering, painting of walls, ceilings, etc.
Assist with window repairs.
Assist other Facilities staff with completing larger projects.
With approval of the supervisor purchase supplies and materials necessary, to complete projects.
Maintain and repair tools/equipment related to work.
Overtime required at the discretion of the College. Overtime is an essential function of non-exempt/hourly employees and at various times during the academic year there are overtime occurrences for a specific skill-set; voluntary overtime opportunities, usually during the summer months and mandatory overtime based on seniority rotation.
There is on-call assignments (including mandatory on-call) based on seniority rotation
Other duties as assigned:
Handle repairs and replacement work such as cleaning flat roof drains & gutter and leaders when necessary, shade replacement, sign installation, repairing loose floor & ceramic tiles, stair treads; replace ceiling tiles, caulks windows & doors. Assemble and moves furniture, assist with hanging pictures, bulletin boards and shelving and times assists with campus table and chair set-ups.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three to five years of experience in a variety of maintenance skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment, moving furniture, working in tight spaces.
- Must be able to safely use tools, equipment and work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to complete the following trainings as required: lock out tag out, confined space, MSDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, in-house OSHA and respirator training and other training SLC requires or mandates.
- Ability to interact appropriately with all SLC community members, guests and contractors.
- Perform other maintenance work and assist others as directed.
