Department 5322 focuses on Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) and Electronic Technologies for a variety of sponsors. This includes the development and fielding of high-performance PNT systems to support various Nuclear Deterrence, National Security Programs (hypersonic missiles), Homeland Security, and interagency programs and R&D initiatives. The department participates in architecting, implementing, and deploying embedded electronic systems to enhance PNT technologies through contested or denied environments, including navigation integrity and situational awareness, real-time flight software for hypersonic missiles, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) calibration and specialization, advanced sensor fusion, and Alternative Navigation (Alt-Nav) sensors. These include, but are not limited to, terrain correlating Synthetic Aperture Radars (SAR), Multi-GNSS, and Signals-of-Opportunity (SoOp) navigation for national security applications.

Department 5322 has varied work opportunities and is actively seeking experienced R&D Electrical/Computer/Embedded engineer with experience in one or more of the following fields:

  • Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Engineering
  • Designing, implementing, and testing fieldable real-time software/hardware using C in embedded systems
  • Real-time data processing
  • Software and algorithm development for both real-time systems and modeling & simulation efforts in NG&C
  • Designing, implementing, and testing inertial systems for navigation, guidance, pointing and control.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$109,300 - $217,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or other relevant STEM discipline.
  • -OR- a Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or other relevant STEM discipline. Plus three years’ engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and/or development.
  • -OR- a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or other relevant STEM discipline. Plus Five years’ engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and/or development
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a required US DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, as well as work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment, building consensus and resolving issues.

  • Experience with HW/SW or system integration and troubleshooting
  • Willingness to work in a team-based development effort including tight integration with a hardware team
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • You possess Embedded software and/or firmware development skills; as well as familiarity with two or more of the following development methodologies or tools:
  • Experience in logic verification, preferably System Verilog/UVM
  • Experience with FPGA design tools (Xilinx Vivado, SynplifyPro, etc)
  • Experience with firmware DSP implementation
  • Experience in taking an FPGA design to hardware and/or ASIC and utilizing the full array of debugging tools (embedded and bench logic analyzer, O-scope, etc)
  • Basic knowledge of RTL synthesis flow for ASIC design
  • Experience in software DSP implementation
  • Experience in low-level device driver development and interfacing with hardware
  • Experience with software quality tools and processes such as linters, code documentation tools, static analyzers, dynamic analyzers, continuous integration tools, unit testing, etc.
  • Active DOE Q-level clearance.

Security Clearance:
