Vice President for Athletics
Hanover College, an NCAA Division III liberal arts institution in Hanover, Indiana, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next vice president for athletics. This is an on-site leadership role.
The vice president for athletics at Hanover College oversees all aspects of Hanover’s NCAA Division III athletic program, including staff supervision, development and oversight of budgets, and facility operations. Reporting directly to the president, the vice president is a cabinet-level leader for the recruitment and holistic development of student-athletes. The vice president promotes a positive image of Hanover College and represents the college in accordance with the mission, principles, and strategic plan. The vice president will oversee a department of 23 intercollegiate sports, nearly 50 full-time and part-time professional coaches and staff, approximately 480 student-athletes, and nearly a $4 million departmental budget.
Qualifications
A master’s degree and significant, progressive leadership experience in collegiate athletics administration are required; coaching experience is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of intercollegiate athletics administration, student-athlete development, facilities management and resourcing, NCAA compliance within a Division III environment, and the role of fundraising in supporting strategic and operational objectives. A collaborative management approach, coupled with superior communication and relationship-building skills, strong planning and fiscal competencies, an understanding of the role of enrollment at a small, private college, a familiarity with program development and assessment including risk management, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a high degree of cultural competence demonstrating respect for diversity of identities and experiences will be important considerations in the selection of the next vice president for athletics.
